En-Roads allows users to identify what policies would be most effective in combating climate change. It enables users to determine if there is one best solution that should be focused on, or if we should pursue several solutions at the same time. This workshop will provide an understanding of why some policies are effective, others are not, and some are only effective in combination with others.

EN-ROADS is a free model that runs on a laptop.  The simulation (https://en-roads.climateinteractive.org), developed by Climate Interactive, Ventana Systems, and MIT Sloan, has been carefully grounded in the best available science, and has been calibrated against a wide range of existing integrated assessment, climate and energy models.  It is intuitive, fast, easy to use, and invaluable to policymakers, educators, businesses, the media, and the public.

Marc Peterson and Steve Glaser will be coordinating an En-Roads workshop designed to create a dynamic interactive experience with the workshop participants.

Marc is an En-Roads Climate Ambassador, which means he completed seven training courses and participates in follow up training. Marc retired in 2016 after spending 30 years in the electrical generation industry. At different times he was involved with; Coal, Coal Gasification, Oil, Natural Gas, Hydro, Bio Gas, Geothermal, Nuclear, Wind, and Solar technologies. He’s spent a lot of time studying the cost and viability of each of those technologies.

Steve is a retired environmental chemist who spent over 30 years evaluating and communicating the health concerns posed by toxic chemicals in soil and groundwater. He is a co-leader of the Salt Lake Chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby, and has been trained in the use of the En-Roads model.
